Chris at St. George; “St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church has been asked by our diocese to host our annual diocesan Parish Life Conference.  We are doing so June 28-July 3 at the JW Marriott in Desert Ridge.  One of the highlights is the presence of the miraculous Myrrh-Streaming Iveron icon from Hawaii.  The icon of the Panagia will be with us for Vespers on Friday, July 1 at 3:30pm (and anointing will take place during that service) and for Divine Liturgy on Saturday, July 2 at 8:00am…We are hoping to ensure all of the Orthodox faithful in AZ are aware of this miraculous icon and offer them the opportunity to venerate it.  You and your faithful are most welcome to join us for these services.  It is completely free and open to the public to attend the services and venerate the icon.” Schedule for veneration of Iveron Icon: July 1st at 3:15 in the afternoon at J.W Marriott Resort (Orthodox convention open to all) 5350 E. Widweek Update: Presanctified Liturgy and other things

Christ is in our midst! Hristos în mijlocul nostru! I hope you are having a blessed week. I am attaching the file for Presanctified Liturgy for Wednesday and Friday. We will start at 7 pm and have a light potluck after the service. Please bring something to share if you wish to join us. Presanctified Liturgy with rubrics The lighting will be low during these services as prescribed by the church rubrics. I would encourage you to either download it to a electronic device or print it out and bring a small flashlight. On Sunday I announced that it is necessary to be present for the reading of the Gospel if one intends to receive communion. Unfortunately, we sometimes develop a more casual approach to the Divine Liturgy than we do to our work or personal commitments. Would we go to work 30 minutes late? We might one or two times but perpetual tardiness would eventually have consequences. While we may not see the consequences of a casual approach to the gathering of the Church, there are nonetheless, consequences of apathy and perhaps lack of valuing the blessing of God in His Church. Unfortunately, this may strike you as a “got to” situation; Father is saying I “got to” do this and do that. That is not the point. I want us to see it as a “get to” way of living. In the crazy world in which we live, I “get to” worship God; I “get to” go to Church. For those of us who came from Romania, it wasn’t so long ago in Romania that you would have loved to “get to” go to Divine Liturgy. Let’s not take for granted this great gift we have been given.
